Fashion/Design 1 Recommended Supply List
For this elective, it may be helpful for your child to have to their own sewing supplies for their personal use, if possible. PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS OPTIONAL, NOT REQUIRED.
-One package straight pins and a pin cushion or small pin box
-One package sewing needles (for hand sewing)
-One seam ripper
-One pair of fabric scissors
-Four spools of ALL PURPOSE thread (2 white, 2 black)
-One package of three or more PLASTIC bobbins, (class 15) – look for that on the package
-One plastic container, labeled with student’s name, to hold scissors, pins, thread, ripper, bobbins, and needles (It is recommended this container remain in the classroom)
If your child does not have a personal supply box, “community” classroom supplies will always be available for their use.
The items listed above can be brought into class at any time.
PLEASE NOTE THAT PROVIDING YOUR OWN FABRIC IS OPTIONAL,
NOT A REQUIREMENT, and you do not have to buy this all at once, it can be brought in throughout the year when needed.
(For all fabrics, non-stretch, non-shiny choices are needed)
- Pillowcase - cotton blend (non-stretch,) 2 fabrics, 1/2 yard each (Sept. project)
- Holiday Wreath – cotton/poly blend, 3 fabrics, 1/4 yard each (Dec. project)
- Pajama pants - 3 yds. flannel fabric (Jan. project)
- Apron - 1 and 1/2 yds. broadcloth or denim (March/April project)
- Cross-body bag - 1 yard any non-stretch fabric (May project)
