Speech and Drama - Martino and Liberty Jr. Highs
F/D 2 students will have many opportunity throughout the year to work on projects they have chosen for themselves. Essentially, the classroom becomes a workshop for them. They use class time to work on their own project, and I am there to guide and help them with anything they need. Then, when the project is finished, they receive a grade using the same rubric I use for most projects. This is an opportunity for them to really exercise their individual creativity and explore their own interests in relation to the projects they complete. If they choose not to work on self-determined projects, I will continue to assign projects for them.
Calendar of Assigned Projects

Oct. / Nov. - self-determined projects, leaf placemats

YOUR FIRST POST – Due Oct. 27 (Blue day, Liberty) or Oct. 28 (Gold day, Martino)
Introduce yourself. Who are you? What’s your experience? What kind of journey are you starting with this blog? Why are you starting this blog? (Don’t say, “Because it’s an assignment.” Why did you choose your topic? Why is this topic important or interesting to you? ) What kind of posts can we expect to see? Why should we be interested in “subscribing” to your blog?
BE CREATIVE. BE YOU. ALWAYS.
Post 2 - Due Nov. 15th (Blue day) Nov. 16th (Gold day)
Write a “typical” blog post for your blog – basically, whatever you told your readers they could expect to see in your first post, show them that. Include AT LEAST one photo (you may always use more for a post if you wish) and use it thoughtfully. Be detailed in your thoughts and in your explanations to engage your readers, show them your personality along with providing them with your information/thoughts, and show passion for your topic. Make your readers get excited for the next post!
Post 3 - due Dec. 19th/Dec. 20th
Lots of bloggers base their posts on whatever is happening in current time, their posts are “timely.” Maybe their posts have something to do with the season, or comment on current events. Make this next post a “timely” post, and base it on something happening now – a really current new trend, or the current season, the holidays, something going on in the news, etc., but, don’t forget to also relate it with your blog’s main purpose/topic. Use at least one photo.
Post 4 - due Jan. 24th/Jan. 25th
It’s the season of celebration – getting together with family and friends, going to parties, eating yummy foods, showing gratitude, giving and receiving gifts. Write a “festive” post, something that has to do with parties, get-togethers, or gift-giving, or being a host or being a party-goer. Use at least one photo.
Post 5 - due Feb. 15th/16th
Send a Valentine…to your favorites things in fashion! What items of clothing, accessories, beauty products, designers, stores, magazines, websites, sewing tools, etc., do you love and cannot live without? Name at least three, (you can name more) and explain why these things are your favorites, essential to you, etc. Use at least one photo.
Post 6 - due March 14/15th
Write another “typical” blog post for your blog – basically, whatever you envisioned your blog to be about when you started it, create that. Include AT LEAST one photo (you may always use more for a post if you wish) and use it thoughtfully. Be detailed in your thoughts and in your explanations to engage your readers, show them your personality along with providing them with your information/thoughts, and show passion for your topic.
Post 7 - due
Tell us about your fashion show experience. Then, take some creative photos of your fashion show pieces, in the style of a professional, editorial, “Vogue-esque” photo shoot. What story are you trying to tell or what fantasy are you trying to create with your photo? Who is the person in the garment? What is their personality? If your blog focuses on hair or make-up, put some focus on that in the photo shoot as well. Use at least 2 photos.
Post 8 - due May
Challenge yourself! Create a challenge for yourself to complete and tell us how it goes. For example, thrift store bloggers will challenge themselves to make an entire outfit for under $10. Other examples - If you have a make-up blog, challenge yourself to do a “5 minute face.” Do a 7x7 challenge – choose seven pieces of clothing and only wear those 7 pieces in different combinations for 7 days. If you have a hair blog, challenge yourself to use a hair accessory that is not actually intended to be a hair accessory. Use at least 1 photo.
