SPEECH AND LANGUAGE
Speech and language are different.
Speech refers to a child's verbal means of communication. Speech disorders impact a child's ability to appropriately articulate sounds, speak fluently or use their voice to produce speech.
Language refers how we understand others and how we express our ideas to others. Language disorders may impact the a child's awareness of sounds in words, understanding of meaning, use of vocabulary, grammatical structure of sentences, or social use of language.
