I did my student teaching in New Lenox in third and fourth grade classrooms. Fortunately, I had amazing cooperating teachers and am so thankful that I was then hired by the district as a second grade classroom teacher. After four years teaching second grade, I went back to pursue my passion of teaching students how to become better readers, and earned my Master of Science degree as a Reading Specialist. I then became a Reading Specialist in the New Lenox School District for four years, and returned to a second grade classroom in 2015.
I also completed training as a certified Orton Gillingham tutor at The Children's Dyslexia Center in LaGrange, as well as earned a national certification as a Certified Academic Language Practitioner through the Academic Language Therapy Association.
I continue to teach and learn so that I can do my best to help students.

Favorite Thing About Teaching:
What I love most about teaching is working with children and growing a classroom family. It is an honor to watch the students learn and develop into their own person throughout the years. I also love the collaboration among teachers, school staff, and parents. I learn something new from them and from my students every day!
My hobbies include reading great books, going to car races, yoga and exercise, enjoying music, and drinking coffee.
I'm married to my incredible husband, John. My daughter, Caitilin, is 24 years old and is a journalist and social media expert. As of September, 2016 I also have a son-in-law, Billy!
