**Friday, April 28, 2017:** Today after Minute Math, we then discussed their Puzzle 2.11 "Why are Mr. and...Happy?" from yesterday. We then began to work through *Lesson 7-4: Subtracting Algebraic Expressions. *We will continue this into Monday's class. I asked them to complete 2 or 3 problems (depending on the slip of paper taken) they have pasted into their Topic 7 Foldable for Monday's class.

**Thursday, April 27, 2017:** After the Team Warm-Up Problem, I returned the kids' *Lesson 7-3 In-Class Assignment.* We then discussed and collected Puzzle 2.3 "Why did Oslo...Auction?". As they were ready, they were able to work with a partner of their choosing on Puzzle 2.11 "Why are Mr. and ...Happy?" puzzle which gave them practice converting word phrases into algebraic expressions. Please bring this to tomorrow's class.

**Wednesday, April 26, 2017:** After Minute Math, the kids were given their

*Lesson 7-3 In-Class Assignment,*completed in yesterday's class. I then had them work with a partner to review the distributive property and combining like terms. I asked them to do their best to complete

*Puzzle 2.3*for tomorrow's class.

**Tuesday, April 25, 2017:** Today, after the Team Workout Problem, the kids and I discussed #9-15 to wrap up the

*Lesson 7-3 Assignment*. The kids were then able to complete the

*Lesson 7-3 In-Class Assignment*when they were individually ready. They were then asked to work with a partner to take a peek into

*Lesson 7-4: Subtracting Algebraic Expressions*by completing the Launch and Reflection. We will discuss this tomorrow after our bell activity.

**Monday, April 24, 2017: **After Minute Math was completed, the kids I discussed the

*Lesson 7-3 Assignment*started for today's class. We then discussed Part Three and they chose partners to work with for the Close & Check. They were given time to then continue the

*Lesson 7-3 Assignment*#9-15 for tomorrow's class.

*Lesson 7-2: Factoring Algebraic Expressions Homework*today, and then, when they were individually ready, the kids completed the

*Lesson 7-2 In-Class Assignment.*When they were done, they were given time to work on the Launch and Reflection for

*Lesson 7-3: Adding Algebraic Expressions*, as well as Part 1, Slide 1 Vocabulary.

** Wednesday, April 19, 2017:** We continued working through

*Lesson 7-2*today. The kids explored factoring further as well as the idea of combining like terms. I asked them to attempt the rest of

*Lesson 7-2 Assignment (#9-15)*for tomorrow's class.

**Tuesday, April 18, 2017:** After out Team Workout Math Problem, the kids and I picked up where we left off in *Lesson 7-2: Factoring Algebraic Expressions*. This algebraic concept is new to the kids but incorporates past knowledge of greatest common factors and prime factorization. The kids were asked to complete #1-8 on the *Lesson 7-2 Assignment* problems to see what they retained from today's lesson for tomorrow's class. We will continue *7-2* into tomorrow.

**Thursday, April 13, 2017: **Again, due to shortened classes we did not start class with our normal bell activity. We began to look into *Lesson 7-2: Factoring Algebraic Expressions* and will continue this into Tuesday's class.

**Wednesday, April 12, 2017:** Today the kids were able to catch up. A small handful of the class had to finish the last few problems from the *8th Grade Diagnostic Test*, some had to complete the *Lesson 71 In-Class assignment*, and some were able to check out the new Wrap-Ups Center I put in our classroom. You've almost completed PARCC, Kids!

**Tuesday, April 11, 2017:** The kids were able to complete the *8th Grade Diagnostic Test* in class today. Some were also able to compete the *Lesson 7-1 In-Class Assignment.*

**Monday, April 10, 2017:** Today the kids started the

*8th Grade Diagnostic Test*. We completed #1-15 today and they will continue this into tomorrow's class. We will also continue working through the

*Lesson 7-1 In-Class Assignment*.

**Friday, April 7, 2017:** The kids worked with a partner today during a guided math session to complete *Lesson 7-1: Expanding Algebraic Expressions*. They were able to work cooperatively and at their own paces while I was able to help them individually. I asked them to do their best to complete the *Lesson 7-1 Homework *we started yesterday for Monday's class. On Monday the kids will start the first half of the 8th grade diagnostic test (not for a grade; used for placement.)

**Thursday, April 6, 2017: **The kids and I worked together through the first half of *Lesson 7-1,* writing examples in their foldables and doing much dry erase practice. They were then able to start the first half (#1-7) of the *Lesson 7-1 Homework.*

**Wednesday, April 5, 2017:** Due to the shortened schedule because of PARCC testing, classes were each only 46 minutes long today. We started *Lesson 7-1: Expanding Algebraic Expressions* after the kids handed in their signed Topic 6 Tests (due tomorrow). We will continue this into tomorrow's class.

**Tuesday, April 4, 2017:** *No school day to local elections.*

**Monday, April 3, 2017:** After Minute Math, the graded Topic 6 Tests were returned and reviewed. Please have these signed by Thursday's class. We then went through a PARCC tutorial designed for 7th grade math students to use to familiarize themselves with the various screens and options the kids will see this week during the PARCC test. Don't forget your headphones, please!

**Thursday, March 23, 2017:** The kids handed in their Topic 6 Homework Packets and then took the Topic 6 Test. They will receive these back the Monday we return to school after Spring Break. I gave the kids the Topic 7 Foldable Guidelines to get ready for our next unit.

** Wednesday, March 22, 2017:** Tomorrow is our Topic 6 Test, so study well, Kids! The extra credit opportunity slip is also due along with the Topic 6 Homework Packet on test day. We reviewed the kids'

*Lesson 6-6 Assignment*so they could then complete the

*Lesson 6-6 In-Class Assignment.*We also went over the Topic 6 Review to prepare further for tomorrow's test. Do your best, Kids!

**Tuesday, March 21, 2017: T**he kids and I discussed any questions they had on the fort half (#1-7) of the *Lesson 6-6 Assignment* and then they continued working at their own pace through *Lesson 6-6*. They were then given time to work on the rest of the assignment, the Topic 6 Review, or any redo work they need to work on. I had asked the kids to have as much of the Topic Review competed s they could for tomorrow/s class since their **Topic 6 Test** is Thursday.

**Monday, March 20, 2017:** After Minute Math, the kid and I went over the *Lesson 6-6 Launch & Reflection *the kids had completed at the end of the day Friday. We then began to look into *Lesson 6-6: Percent Error* further, analyzing the formula and noting this on our study cards. We worked through **Part One** and will continue this into tomorrow's class.

**Friday, March 17, 2017**: Happy St. Patrick's Day, Everyone! The kids and I reviewed the *Lesson 6-5 Assignment* after Minute Math was completed. They then, when ready, completed the *Lesson 6-5 In-Class Assignment. *They will receive this back during Monday's class. All students were assigned the Topic 6 Review. They should use this to start preparing for next Thursday's test over Topic 6. I told them a good plan would be to complete 5 problems a day over the next week.

**Thursday, March 16, 2017: ** The kids and I completed *Lesson 6-5* after they had completed the Team Math Warm-Up Problem of the Day. They were then given additional time to work on the latter half of the *Lesson 6-5 Assignment. *

**Wednesday, March 15, 2017:** After we completed Minute Math, the kids and I began to explore *Lesson 6-5: Fractions, Decimals, and Percents. *I asked them to attempt #1-6 of the Lesson 6-5 Homework.

**Tuesday, March 14, 2017:** Happy Pi Day, Everyone! Today after our workout team problem the kids and I reviewed any questions they wanted from the *Lesson 6-4 Assignment.* They then decided if they were ready for the *Lesson 6-4 In-Class Assignment* or if they needed more practice. I asked the kids to take a look into what we are working within *Lesson 6-5: Fractions, Decimals, and Percents* by tomorrow's class.

**Monday, March 13, 3017:** The kids seemed to enjoy checking out each other's Topic 6 Projects during the Presentation Parade. Then we completed the rest of *Lesson 6-4* and the kids were given time to work on the assignment for this section. I've asked them to complete this to the best of their abilities for tomorrow's class.

**Friday, March 10, 2017: **After Minute Math, the kids I discussed Puzzle 7.10 "What were the Crash Test Dummy's Last Words?" assigned yesterday. We then went over the *Peer Evaluation Sheet* I gave them today; this goes with their Topic 6 Project (both due Monday, March 13). We continued working within *Lesson 6-4: Percents Less than One*, which we will continue into Monday's class.

**Thursday, March 9, 2017:** Today the kids and I reviewed converting percents, decimals, and fractions. We made guidelines in their foldables in *Lesson 6-4* and then did much dry erase practice. To self evaluate, I am asking the kids to complete Puzzle 7.10 "What were the Crash Test Dummy's Last Words?" for tomorrow's class.

**Wednesday, March 8, 2017:** I was able to access the Laptop Cart for one more day so the kids could have additional time to work on their **Topic 6 Amusement Park projects**. These are due by Monday, March 13.

**Tuesday, March 7, 2017:** Today was a Laptop Day for the Topic 6 Project. Students will be given one (1) additional day with laptops tomorrow. The Topic 6 Project is due on Monday, March 13. Ten (10) points will be deducted for each day this project is late. Don't be late, Kids!

** Monday, March 6, 2017:** After Minute Math was completed, the kids had their "Kollross Cash-in" time. We then discussed tomorrow's "Laptop Day" where they can have this day to work on the Topic 6 Project with their partner. To start

*Lesson 6-4: Percents Less Than One,*we worked on the

*Lesson 6-4 Launch and Reflection.*The kids needed a review of converting between fractions, decimals, and percents. We will continue this into Wednesday's class.

**Friday, March 3, 2017: **After the kids and I discussed their answers from Minute Math, the kids and I discussed any questions they wanted to review from the *Lesson 6-3 Homework. *They then were able to complete the *Lesson 6-2 In-Class Assignment* if they were ready. Any extra time today could be spent on the Topic 6 Project (ballots/giving out surveys/tallying results) or prepare for the Pi Contest!

**Thursday, March 2, 2017:** After the kids worked within their teams on the Math Warm-Up Team Problem, we completed *Lesson 6-3: Percents Greater Than 100*. The kids were asked to continue working on the *6-3 Homework* started yesterday for tomorrow's class. They should also be preparing their project; laptop work day is next Tuesday, March 7. FYI: Topic 6 Foldables were to be made over a week and a half ago. Students were reminded today that if this foldable was not properly made by tomorrow's class, a step would be given. Don't earn that step!

**Wednesday, March 1, 2017:** After Minute Math today we began working in *Lesson 6-3: Percents Greater Than 100*. We will continue this into tomorrow's class. Please begin working on this *6-3 Homework* by trying #1-5 today for tomorrow's class.

**Tuesday, February 28, 2017:** After our Math Work-Out Team Problem, the kids and I discussed any questions they wanted to review from *Lesson 6-2 Homework. *They then were able to complete the *Lesson 6-2 In-Class Assignment* if they were ready and had shown their computational work on the homework. Any extra time today could be spent on the Topic 6 Project (ballots/giving out surveys/tallying results), redo the *6-1 In-Class Assignment,* or prepare for the Pi Contest!

**Monday, February 27, 2017:** After we completed Minute Math, the kids and I went over any questions they had from *Lesson 6-2 #1-5*. Then we completed Part Two, Part Three, and the Close and Check. They were then given time to work on the remaining problems (#6-15) or work on the Topic 6 Project.

**Friday, February 24, 2017:** After Minute Math, the kids and I discussed the Amusement Project further and I gave them time to meet. We discussed the

*Lesson 6-2 Launch and Reflection*assigned yesterday for a peek into our next section

*Lesson 6-2: Terminating Decimals.*They then competed Part One with their project partner and were then able to choose to continue working on the Project or #1-5 for the

*Lesson 6-1 Homework*. They were then given time to work on the

*Lesson 6-1 In-Class Assignment*. They also turned in their

*Topic 5 Tests Signed*today. We discussed their Topic 6 Project further. My advice to them was to have their ballot completed by tomorrow so I can copy it if they'd like.

**Wednesday, February 22, 2017:** Today the kids I completed working within *Lesson 6-1: Repeating Decimals *and they seemed to respond well. I asked them to continue the homework started yesterday by working on #8-15 today. Don't forget: the Topic 5 Test is due back to class signed by tomorrow. Thank you to those who turned it in signed today. We are also continuing our Topic 6 Projects! Keep it moving, Kids!

**Tuesday, February 21, 2017:** Welcome back! The kids all received their Topic 5 Tests back today. I asked them to have them signed by Thursday's class. We then started *Lesson 6-1: Repeating Decimals* which we will continue into tomorrow's class. I asked the kids to start the *Lesson 6-1 Homework* by working on just #1-6 today.

**Friday, February 17, 2017:** Since we had such short classes today, I had something "special" planned for the kids for this topic. For Topic 6, the kids are going to complete a project with a partner. The project has been outlined in a handout that each student has. It explores their favorite amusement park rides, and I could not be more curious after hearing some of their discussions! I cannot wait to see what they create.

**Thursday, February 16, 2017: **Since we had out Topic 5 Test today, we did not start class with a bellringer. Each student first turned in her/his homework packet and the extra credit slip, if it had been filled out. Then the kids completed their online Topic 5 Tests. They will receive these back at Tuesday's class. I asked them to please create their Topic 6 Foldable for tomorrow's class.

**Wednesday, February 15, 2017: **After Minute Math today, the kids put together their homework packets. They can use these to study further for their Topic 5 Test tomorrow. Then we went over any questions they had from the Topic 5 Review. They were given further time to complete similar questions to practice, work on redo work, work on make-up/missing work, or update/create a study card to bring to the test tomorrow. Study well, Kids; I believe in you!

**Tuesday, February 14, 2017: **We started class with our Math Workout Team Problem. Then, the kids received their

*Lesson 5-5 In-Class Assignment*back, as long as they had completed the homework as of yesterday's class. We then worked through

*Lesson 5-6: Problem Solving*which, for the most part, was a review of frequency tables, mean, median, and proportional relationships for the kids. Don't forget, Kids: the Topic 5 Review should be done to the best of your ability for tomorrow's class. Test on Thursday. Enjoy your Valentine's Day!

**Tuesday, February 7, 2017:** After the Math Workout Team Problem bellringer today, the kids and I completed *Lesson 5-4: Dividing Rational Numbers* after we went over any questions over the *Lesson 5-4 Homework* they started last night. After we discussed Part Two and Part Three, the kids worked through the *Close & Check *and were given time to continue to work on the rest of the *Lesson 5-4 Homework.*

**Monday, February 6, 2017:** After Minute Math, I returned the kids' *Lesson 5-3 In-Class Assignment. *We then discussed the *Lesson 5-4: Dividing Rational Numbers* Launch and Reflection they worked on this weekend to peek at what was in this next section. We worked through the beginning of the lesson and had some practice time. I asked the kids to attempt #1-4 and 9-11 for tomorrow's class.

**Monday, January 30, 2017:** After Minute Math, we went over any questions the kids had from the somewhat complicated *Lesson 5-2 Homework.* They asked questions that involved the language of the problems, which I understand can be confusing at times. After we worked through those, the students who said they were ready took the *Lesson 5-2 In-Class Assignment.*

**Friday, January 27, 2017: **Back to a regular schedule today! After Minute Math and handing in their signed *Topic 4 Tests* which were due today, the kids were given time to wrap up any unfinished portions of Lesson 5-2. They were given much class time to work on this assignment for Monday's class.

**Thursday, January 26, 2017:** The kids were given time to work on the first part of *Lesson5-2* which we will continue into tomorrow's class.

**Wednesday, January 25, 2017:** Today we had a very quick class due to the shortened TerraNova schedule, but the kids and I were able to review multiplying rational numbers (fractions/mixed numbers) on dry erase boards. I asked them to start Puzzle 6.11 to review this topic prior to

**Monday, January 23, 2017: **After Minute Math, all the kids received their

*Topic 4 Tests*back to have reviewed and signed by Friday's class. Any student, no matter the test grade, may take a retake test after redo sheets and a Liberty Test Retake Ticket are filled out and then reviewed and returned by Ms. Kollross. We then continued

*Lesson 5-1;*the kids were asked to complete the rest of the

*5-1 Homework (#9-15)*by Wednesday's class.

**Friday, January 20, 2017: **We started working within Topic 5: Multiplying & Dividing Rational Numbers in Lesson 5-1. The kids picked up the concept simply. They're starting the homework (#1-8 this weekend and given time in class, too) and we will continue this into this next week. Enjoy your weekend!

** Thursday, January 19, 2017: **The kids had their Topic 4 Test today and I hope they feel confident in how they did. I will have these graded and returned by Monday. They were each asked to create their Topic 5 Foldable today to use in our class tomorrow.

**Wednesday, January 18, 2017:** Today we reviewed the **Topic 4 Review **to prepare for tomorrow's test. The kids also had the chance to take a copy of a Practice Test (answer key attached). They were given much time to work further, study together, ask for help, or work on redo work. Study well, Kids!

**Tuesday, January 17, 2017:** After the kids completed their Team Math Workout Problem to start class, we discussed questions from the *Lesson 4-6 Homework* and then the kids that were ready completed the *Lesson 4-6 In-Class Assignment. *They were then given the time to partner up to work on *Lesson 4-7: Problem Solving*, which is where we find the bonus problem(s) for our upcoming test. This is NOT homework; the kids will be given more time tomorrow. The Topic 4 Review (assigned last week) is to be done to the best of the kids' abilities for tomorrow's class so we can review any questions needed. Thursday is our Topic 4 Test. Study well, Kids!

*Lesson 4-5 Homework*completed last night. Then they were able to complete their

*Lesson 4-5 In-class Assignment*, which quizzes them on 5 or 6 problems from that homework and is counted for a grade. After they were completed with that task, they did a simple post-it note activity. They were then given time to complete the

*Lesson 4-6: Distance on a Number Line*Launch and Reflection to get ready for tomorrow's class. Have a good evening!

**Monday, January 9, 2017: **Welcome back, Everyone! Today we picked up where we left off the Wednesday prior to winter break. Today we began exploring *Lesson 4-5*. We will complete this tomorrow but I gave the kids the first 6 problems to work on tonight to check their understandings of today's part of the lesson.

**Wednesday, December 21, 2016: **We started our class today with our Minute Math bellringer. Then we went over questions from the 6.8 Puzzle that was assigned in yesterday's class. After they made corrections or were completed with the puzzle, the kids were then able to work as a team on a 5-problem in-class assignment. They were given the rest of the day as a "clean-up" day. They could work on make-up work, redo work, or other homework from other classes if they were all caught up in math class. See you tomorrow, Kids!

We then discussed subtracting positive/negative fractions and mixed numbers to get them ready for

*Lesson 4-5*, which we will start in tomorrow's class. I gave them each Puzzle 6.8 to work on for tomorrow's class, asking them to note any questions they would like to work on together tomorrow. Enjoy your night!

**Monday, December 19, 2016: ***I was at the District Office today for a meeting.* After Minute Math, the kid reviewed any questions they had on the *Lesson 4-4 Homework* and then competed the *Lesson 4-4 In-Class Assignment.* As a review for *Lesson 4-5: Subtracting Rational Numbers*, I had them go back to their previous activity sheet "Adding/Subtracting Decimals" to apply their skills from Lesson 4-4. They are to do their best with #11-25 which they were able to work on in class with a partner and were provided a key to check their answers as they work. **Stay warm!**

**Wednesday, December 14, 2016:** After Minute Math, we had a skills review of subtracting integers. We did much dry erase practice and then I assigned the kids Puzzle 3.6 so they could self-evaluate their skills. They are welcome to bring questions back to tomorrow's class.

**Tuesday, December 13, 2016: **We reviewed the kids' questions from the latter portion of the *Lesson 4-3 Homework* from last evening. They then individually completed the in-class assignment. I then gave them sample problems involving subtracting integers so I could assess where their understandings are. We will continue this into tomorrow's class.

**Friday, December 9, 2016:** We started our class today with Minute Math, and then we reviewed any questions from the 6 adding +/- fractions and mixed numbers practice problems they had last evening. Then we started the *Lesson 4-3: Adding Rational Numbers* which we will continue into Monday. I asked the kids to attempt #1-6 on the *Lesson 4-3 Homework* for Monday's class.

**Thursday, December 8, 2016:** After we completed the Math Warmup Problem, we went over any questions the kids had regarding the adding +/- decimal numbers practice they worked on last night. We then went over an **intense review** of adding +/- fractions and mixed numbers. The kids had an up-and-down road with these skills. I'm very glad we had the review, but they may become frustrated with the 6 problems I gave them (with an answer key) for practice tonight. I asked them to make notes on the frustrating sections or pointing out where they did not know how to get to the solution shown on the answer key. This way we can begin our day with these questions tomorrow. Try your best, Kids!

**Wednesday, December 7, 2016:** After Minute Math and Kollross Cash-In Day, the kids and I reviewed any questions they had from the *Lesson 4-2 Homework*. If the homework was completed and your student said he/she was ready, they were given the *Lesson 4-2 In-Class Assignment*. Students also then handed in their **Topic 3 Test with Parent Signature** (due today). To be prepared for *Lesson 4-3: Adding Rational Numbers*, it is expected for the kids to now how to add positive/negative decimals, fractions, and mixed numbers. Today we took the time to review adding positive/negative decimal numbers. I gave them 10 problems to practice with tonight. Tomorrow we will explore adding positive /negative fractions and mixed numbers.

**Tuesday, December 6, 2016:** Today the kids and I worked through an abstract strategy for adding integers which most of the kids found interesting in *Lesson 4-2 * using the integer chips tool*.* They were assigned the *Lesson 4-2 Homework*, to be done to the best of their abilities for tomorrow's class. Don't forget to have your Topic 3 Test signed for tomorrow's class, too, Kids!

**Monday, December 5, 2016:** After Minute Math was complete, all the kids received their *Topic 3 Tests* back to have signed by Wednesday's class. If a student wishes to take a retake test, redo sheet(s) need to be filled out as well as a Liberty Test Retake Ticket. These are both available in our classroom and on my homepage. They then also received their *Lesson 4-1 In-Class Assignment* back today to start their first grade in PowerSchool for *Topic 4: Integers.* We continued the day by looking into *Lesson 4-2: Adding Integers* and will continue this into tomorrow's class. **Topic 3 Test****Thursday, December 1, 2016:** The kids were given a rubric after we completed our Math Warm-Up Problem of the Day. They partnered up to proofread their 5-sentence expository/informational paragraph using the rubric and were able to ask questions as needed. We also completed *Lesson 4-1. * Since this lesson was very much a review and the kids flew through it, they were given ALL of the homework tonight, but I have complete confidence they can solve these without a hitch.

**Wednesday, November 30, 2016:** Today we began looking at **Topic 4: Integers**. We started with *Lesson 4-1: Rational Numbers, Opposites, and Absolute Value. *We were only able to get through the Launch and Part One, but this was perfect. I wanted the kids to get a chance to practice their writing skills in math, too. I asked them to write a 5-sentence paragraph outlining/teaching what was explored today. They can think of this as their "rough draft" night. You can do it, Kids!

**Tuesday, November 29, 2016:** We started out class by collecting the *Topic Three Homework Packets* and any of the *Topic Three Extra Credit Slips.* Then the kids completed their **Topic Three Tests.** I hope to have all of these back to them by Thursday's class. Tonight I asked the kids to prepare their *Topic Four Foldable* for tomorrow's class.

**Monday, November 28, 2016:** What a first day back! The kids were able to work as a team to review and complete the *Lesson 3-6 In-Class Assignment* to start class out. Then, the kids were able to put together their *Topic 3 Homework Packets*. They were then given the rest of the class to review and ask questions in regards to the *Topic 3 Review* they were given for homework the week prior to Break. The **Topic 3 Test **is tomorrow! Please remind your student to have the extra credit slip filled out if they'd like.

**Friday, November 18, 2016:** Today was a shortened half-day. The kids and I went over any questions they had from the *Lesson 3-6 Homework* and began the *Lesson 3-6 In-Class Assignment*. If they did not finish due to the shortened class, we can just finish the Monday we return from Fall Break. **Over our break, please**** encourage your child to work on any redo work and the Topic 3 Review assigned earlier this week. **The Topic 3 Test is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29.

**Thursday, November 17, 2016:** Today we discussed markdowns which the kids felt comfortable with since this is all about sales! Some of them really love to shop. I asked them to try the remainder of the problems in the *Lesson 3-6 Homework* for tonight's assignment. They've also all been assigned the **Topic 3 Review**. Our test is planned to be on Tuesday, November 29.

**Wednesday, November 16, 2016: **We continued exploring *Lesson 3-6: Markus and Markdowns* today, working with markups first. The kids seemed curious about how stores decide on markup prices for the products they buy; this curiosity is always a treat for me to see. I asked the kids to try some of the markup problems on the homework. The numbers they were to try are #1, 2, 7, 11, 13 (online) or #1, 2, 7, 12, 14 (paper copy).

**Monday, October 31, 2016:** Since today was a blue day but also a half-day of school classes were each about 30 minutes in length. Since our 7th graders' attention spans are a bit controlled today by the Halloween festivities on their minds, I gave them a "Cartesian Art" project of using the coordinate pane to complete a picture of either a bat or jack-o-lantern. They were given the entire time to complete this and were asked to try to have it completed (and colored) by tomorrow's class. Have a spooky good time!

I could tell from what many of them showed that they do not all have a sound understanding of the basic algebraic ways to show how to solve an equation. We, therefore, had a review session today to make sure everyone felt more secure. I gave them each two worksheets to solve for tomorrow's class: "How did the ...Class?" (2.7) and "Quiz in Code" (2.6).

**Thursday, September 1, 2016:** I was out of the classroom today to attend a meeting at District Office, but Ms. VanderSchaaf was our wonderful substitute teacher. She had nothing but nice words for the kids, so thank you, Young Ones! While I was gone today, Ms. VanderSchaaf had the kids take the Digits Pre-Assessment so I can see where their skills are sound and where they may need improvement. This helps me assess what the kids need to study individually on our Study Days.

**Wednesday, August 31, 2016: ** Today, all of the kids received their **Lesson 1-1 In-Class Assignment **back. We discussed how a "redo sheet" can be completed to better their score on any in-class assignment. This "redo sheet" is found on my Site Hub page. Students can receive full credit for any missed problem on an in-class assignment by completing this form. I always try to write notes to the students about errors but I will of course help them further if they'd like.

**Thursday, August 25, 2016:**Today we worked within

*Lesson 1-1: Equivalent Ratios.*We will complete this section tomorrow. Students have been assigned #1-5 tonight, and the rest will be assigned tomorrow. Also, students all received a student and a parent survey this past Monday. I had asked the kids to have this completed by tomorrow's class. Enjoy your night!
