Transition back to in-person or remaining remote information (2020-21):
*October Dates: October 1-9 will continue to be remote days for all students. The first day of school for students during this transition is Wednesday, October 14th. This is a full day of school so please pack a healthy snack to enjoy daily and your child’s lunch.
*In Person School Hours: Our regular school day is 9:15 AM - 3:40 PM. Students enter the building at 9:05 AM. Students are NOT encouraged to arrive any earlier than 9:05 AM.
*Remote hours: Remote hours will stay the same as they currently are. Students will login at 9:00 and will have instruction until 2:30. Teachers will be available from 2:30-3:30 for small-group, interventions or extra support for parents and students.
*Arrival and Dismissal-All car riders will be a drop and go this year. There will not be the option to park and wait with or for your child at the front doors. (Last names A-K will be picked up at the Pointe front doors, L-Z will be picked up at the Crossing front doors).
*Masks: Masks must be worn at all times, unless eating and/or social distancing is achieved. This includes the bus. Each child will receive a mask on their first day of in-person learning. If you do not have a mask from home for the first day and need to pick up a mask from school prior to October 14th, then please call the school office so we can set up a pick-up time prior to student attendance.
*IPADS-iPads need to be sent to school and charged daily. They should be sent in with their brick and charging cord daily. Please place all pieces in a Ziploc bag. They will be sent home each night in the same bag.
*Lunch: Please consider your child’s ability to be independent while packing his/her lunch. Please only pack items that your child can open independently. We will try to limit the amount of close contact by our supervisors and students' food. If your child can not open their fruit cup at home, they will not be able to open it here. Feel free to open it and pour it into a baggie or other easily opened container so they do not need help opening it. If that does not work for you, then please choose other items to include in the lunch. We will not have plasticware available, so please send that from home, if needed. Please pack your child’s lunch in as much throw away bags and baggies as possible. We must limit hallway transitions, therefore some students may be taking their reusable lunch items with them out to recess after lunch. Ideally a brown bag and all throw away items should be used so they do not have to bring anything home after lunch.
Student Dismissal Changes: Parents must contact the office before 3:00 p.m. daily if you are changing how your child is going home for the day. The safety of the children are of the most importance to the staff, no changes will be made after 3:00 p.m.
*Attendance: If a child will not be in school please call in your child's absence by 9:30 each day. The absentee hotline number is 815-462-7988.
*Vacation: Please contact the school if your child will be absent due to a vacation.
*Change of Information: Parents may log into their Powerschool account to update any changes such as address, phone number, employment or emergency contacts. If you have difficulty with this please contact the school office for assistance.
*Emergency Closings: New Lenox School District has set up the Connect-ed phone system. You should receive a call regarding school emergency closings. Closings will be listed on local media outlets as well.
*Office Hours: The Spencer Pointe office is open from 8:00-4:30 daily.
